  1. There’s a tiny button located on the guitar that you need to press in order for it to communicate with the Xbox. I don’t know exactly where it’s located, because I was busy trying to find a fix online when we couldn’t get it to connect, but my eight year old figured it out so I’m pretty sure anyone can.

He absolutely LOVES this guitar and it works with Guitar Hero II, even though it’s not listed in the compatible games. It is exactly what he was wanting and is performing as expected.

I own the corded Guitar Hero II guitar, the wireless Les Paul from Guitar Hero III, the Rock Band 2 guitar, and this guitar from Guitar Hero World Tour. I’ve played these guitar games starting when Guitar Hero II came out for the Xbox 360. I play both GH and RB pretty equally and love both games so I’m not here to put RB or GH down like a fanboi.

By far this is the most responsive guitar of them all. Strumming is quick and effortless and just feels right compared to the other guitars. I’m so used to the responsiveness that when I play with other guitars it puts me at a disadvantage and I mess up more.

I also prefer how this guitar–like the other Guitar Hero guitars–have slightly raised buttons for the frets (the colored buttons on the neck) as opposed to the Rock Band guitars which are sunken. It’s much easier to slide up and down with the GH guitars.

At first I thought the slider button was a stupid gimmick, but after I learned to keep my left hand on the regular frets and use my right hand (that I usually strum with) on the sliders it is a lot more fun. I actually look for songs that feature the sliders now. It really adds to the “rocker experience” when you’re tapping the slider bar.

In the end, I recommend this guitar just for the simple fact that it feels better playing in your hand. I’ve had it the 1st day Guitar Hero World Tour came out and I’ve never had any problems with it. I’m not saying there aren’t any problems, just saying for me this instrument has been solid and a joy to use.

  3. This is, by far, the best wireless guitar I’ve used for music games. It’s beautiful, and responds wonderfully. It works for both guitar hero and rockband games. I specifically purchased it for the Beatles Rockband game, and it’s astounding!

Love the game and give it five stars (although some of the songs are horrible) but the guitar I have to give two stars.

I’m an adult gamer (41) who owns many consoles and take care of my stuff so after having this guitar for a little over two months it looks like I am one of the unlucky ones.

Like another reviewer mentioned strum bar squeaked from day one but playing on the medium setting (hands aren’t what they used to be when I was younger) I had been doing fairly well but started noticing that I was missing notes. Couldn’t figure out what was happening as I had been able to play the songs with minimal mistakes so thought a change of batteries was in order. Still had issues. Then notice when scrolling down the song list that when moving the strum bar to go from one song to the next it would jump over two songs. Hmmmmmm? A quick search online and it turns out that this double-strumming (over-strumming) is unfortunately a very common problem.

So going to the Activision site to see what they have to say you find the following:

“If the strum bar is registering extra hits try keeping a finger on the strum bar while playing the game instead of flicking it with your fingers/hand.”

Um, well that’s fine and dandy for sustained notes but take a situation where multiple notes are flying down the screen with the requirement of flicking and having this double-strum at the same time and the game get’s to be very frustrating in a hurry.

There is apparently a way to fix this for about $6.00 by changing out the switches but when shelling out almost $70 one should have a product that should hold up longer then two months of careful use.

  5. This guitar controller is the most responsive controller to date. Not only does it feel just right when you press the frets or strum on the guitar but it has several nice new features. Ever feel like raising your guitar to activate star power or overdrive is affecting your ability to hit some of the notes? Well now you have a large button next to your strummer that you can roll your hand back over to activate it. Awesome feature. And while I don’t always use it, the slider neck that’s included on the guitar makes for some fun solos. You won’t be displeased with this guitar controller!
