While the XBox 360 and PS3 versions of X-Men Origins: Wolverine received Mature-labeled “Uncaged Editions” of the game, which are loaded with bloody fun mind you, every other version of the game finds Marvel’s mutant mascot in watered down and toned down renditions. The PS2 edition of X-Men Origins: Wolverine is no different, as the blood, gore, and visceral fun has been all but erased, and what we get here are repetitive objectives that just make the game all the more tedious to get through then it was before. Not to mention that as a whole, the game on the PS2 is just clunky, unresponsive, and quite frankly pretty ugly when you get right down to it as well. I know the PS2 has never really been a graphical powerhouse, and is starting to show its age now more than ever, but it definitely can do better than what X-Men Origins: Wolverine has to offer it. Still, the game isn’t hard to get into, and isn’t necessarily hard to play through either, and the game as a whole isn’t necessarily terrible, but PS2 owners and Wolverine fans both definitely deserve better than this. If you own an XBox 360 or PS3, you are much, much better off picking up X-Men Origins: Wolverine on either of those consoles, instead of wasting your time on any of the watered-down ports like what we find here on the PS2.

This game is okay, but personally, I think it’s not even violent enough. There are glitches, like repeated words. Overall it’s fun, but I think there are too many checkpoints. The checkpoints take too long to save progress.

I was greatly looking forward to this game, bought it on Amazon in advance to its release, but I am very disappointed in this product. This game is so full of glitches it’s ridiculous, frankly they should be embarrassed for releasing this game to the public before it was finished. Often the camera angles will turn off the character and get stuck there so you can’t see him, sometimes behind a wall. Characters often get stuck behind walls, but still somehow have the ability to cause damage to you. There are times the game starts a cinematic scene while you are in the middle of a fight, yet enemies are still able to attack you, eventually killing you while you are unable to fight back. Worse of all, the level I believe may be titled Flood gates are now open!- You are immediately asked to lunge on to a truck, but there appears to be a glitch that does not allow you to lunge, there is not enough time or you can’t get into the correct position to lock onto a target, instead your character dies repeatedly. I have sat for hours just trying to lock on, but it is just not possible. I am no rookie, trust me, your game is screwed up. These are just a few examples of how low rent this game is, it is on par with the first games rushed into release by Playstation 2. This game is on par with a substandard Playstation 1 game. Save your money and get X-men 2 Wolverine’s Revenge, a far superior game.
