Spy Hunter
The world needs a hero, and you’re it. The classic arcade or home platform game gets some awesome updates in this version of the fan-favorite SPY HUNTER. You’ll drive the ultra-fast G-6155 Interceptor through multiple environments, trying to collect as many smoke screens, oil slicks, flame throwers, and other cool weapons as you can. It all takes place in amazing 3D, and each of your missions has multiple objectives to accomplish. The best thing about t… More >>

So they jazzed up Spyhunter for 2003. Whoop-de-doo! Car drives well, but the courses are difficult to frustration. There’s only one good thing about this game. If you enter OGSPY at the name screen, it’ll bring up the original Spyhunter game from the 80s! It’s the only reason for owning this game.
Rating: 3 / 5
To access the original Spy Hunter, type “OGSPY” for your player name in the player entry screen. The original is the biggest reason that I got this, and it is still a lot of fun, once I got used to the controls.
The original game always freezes up on my X-Box after playing it for 15-30 minutes, and it does not save high scores.
The new game is a very mediocre mix between a driving game and a shooter. You have to re-try the levels over and over until you get them perfect, including each of the sub-missions, which can get to be repetitive and monotonous. I wish they would re-make Autoduel.
Rating: 4 / 5
This game is short and has glitchy graphics that slow down and freeze up all the time. The game itself is pretty good but is way to short. I beat it in 1 afternoon. The xbox version comes with the original also. I played that longer than the actual game. This game is good for renting if you want a night of gaming but way to short to buy.

Although some people think it isn’t, Spy Hunter for Xbox is a great game. As the title suggests, Spy Hunter is very much like a james bond car chase w/o james bond. Actually, it’s so like a james bond car chase that the third level, venice, looks and feels just like the venice car chase in “Moonraker”. Spy hunter is a combat driving game. You drive along the endless highway guns a blazin’ killing enemies. If you inflict too much damage, you will automatically turn into a motorcycle, or, if in the water, a high-speed jet ski (a.k.a. speederboat). You could also go into the weapons van to get full ammo and health. Now, killing enemies is not the only thing you do in each level. You also have objectives, such as “defuse the bombs”, “destroy the comms-towers”, or “activate the satcoms”. You get a wide array of weapons. You get:
9mm Machineguns
15mm machineguns
25mm machineguns
unguided rockets
guided rockets
oil slick
flame thrower
smoke screen
emp launcher
rail gun
These are the guns you get to dispatch enemies. Oh, and the machineguns sound SO COOL! Each machinegun 9mm, 15mm, and 25mm, has a totally different sound, and each one is better than the last. They’re awsome!
(out of 5)
Graphics: 3
The graphics are pretty good, but not the best. They are clear, though, so you can make out enemies and objects clearly. The lighting and explosions when you fire machineguns are great.
Sound: 5
The sound, as mentioned above, is great. Each gun has it’s specific sound, and the sound is ingenious, especially the machineguns.
Gameplay: 5
It’s a racing game! Of course the gameplay is good! You drive around shooting enemies while doing objectives in a fexed period of time. The controls are good, too.
Multiplayer: 4
In multiplayer is pretty good. The only problem is that you have to complete all objectives in a level to unlock a level in multiplayer, and each level has it’s own mode of play (chicken hunter, spy race, satcom collect), so you can’t, for example, do spy race in venice because venice is and always will be a satcom collect level. However, that doesn’t bring down the score because it’s so fun to use your guns and gadgets on each other no matter what level.
Difficulty: 4
The reason the difficulty got a 4 out of 5 is because the game can be very hard at some times, but it’s not impossible. You can still beat it.
Overall: 4 1/2
Although this game gets a 4 1/2, it’s so fun that it deserves a 5. Besides, 4 1/2 rounds to 5 so it gets a 5 anyway.
Whoever likes racing or shotting stuff should buy this game. It’s great.
ALSO: If you put in OGSPY as your codename, you’ll get to play the original 1983 spyhunter!
Rating: 5 / 5
This game totally rocks. The graphics are a little worse that the other xbox titles out there, but it is way more fun. You also get the original game which is classic old school.
This is for sure the best driving game on xbox even though it is a little short.
