Regular Xlerator Wheel Stand W/G25-G27 Adapter Kit
I purchased a Logitech G27 racing wheel, and love it…..but I soon discovered, as alot of people do, that it is difficult to find a suitable place to mount the wheel. I tried the coffee table (sore back!), the folding card table, and I even went and bought a small computer table to try. None of these were an acceptable solution, for different reasons. I did a search for driving stands, and this one came up, so I decided to give it a shot.
Excellent choice! The stand is perfect for using with the G25/G27, it comes equipped with the proper pedal and gearshift mounts, so you can mount everything securely. It is well constructed, and comes with very good instructions, and a website address for further fine tuning and setup details.
Setup and assembly are pretty easy, very minimal tools needed, I think I needed a 10mm wrench, but nothing too difficult for the average handy person with a few tools. I was very pleased to find that the pedal plate came pre-drilled for the pedal mounting holes, just use a couple of 6MM screws, which are provided for you.
About the only issue I have is that when it is used on a soft sofa or chair, the legs that go over your lap kinda “sink in” to the soft sofa material. The website has some suggestions, a 1/2 PVC pipe can be cut down to fit in the tubes, raising it slightly. I just used a couple of old books on each leg, to keep it from sinking into the soft sofa cushion too much. Works great like that.
If you are using your G25/G27 in some awkward position, like I was, you owe it to yourself to give this a try….it makes the driving experience on GT5 alot more fun than a controller, or an awkwardly placed wheel setup, this unit makes driving games much more comfortable and realistic!
A bit pricey, but well worth it. The other huge plus is that the wheel, gearshifter, and pedals all stay attached, so storing it is a breeze…it hinges at the pedal area so it takes up very little room when upright. Setup is just as easy. To start playing, just bring the stand over to the sofa/chair, plug in the power, and the USB to the PS3, and set the stand in the correct position, and you’re set!
