  1. Pros: Cute graphics, customizable Puffin characters, real-life Puffin video-clips and nature facts, mini-games.

Cons: Lack of interaction, bit repetitive

I like this game! It isn’t challenging, but it’s relaxing. The mini-games are entertaining enough. I notoriously suck at racing games, so the the Puffin races are challenging for me! I like the graphics, the instant replays, and the nifty video/facts about Puffins in the wild.

There isn’t a lot of story, but if you like mini-games that you can pick up and play for short periods of time, this game is cool.

This is a generous 2 stars. The only reason I gave it that many stars is because I like the racing game (Puffin 500).

My first objection is that the music isn’t separated from the sound effects. I never play the music in games, and this music is like an Irish jig, and I either have to turn off the sound entirely or listen to the music.

If you’re into minigames, then maybe you would like this game. It has eight minigames, with different levels in each, all of which have to be unlocked by satisfactorily completing other games. Besides the above mentioned racing game, there’s games about catching fish, in which you just have to circle the fish with the stylus. And there’s a diving game, which has nothing to do with diving. You just draw lines thru round targets, and the more targets you hit, the higher you’re diving score is.

If you’re buying this game because it talks about raising a puffin family, then you’re going to be disappointed. These puffins have no personality and you can’t interact with them. All the puffin does is fly or walk to another puffin, which starts a minigame. Most of the view is from overhead. This sure isn’t Animal Crossing! If you want to raise a family, then I suggest SimAnimals or Viva Pinata. (I don’t have either of those games. I opted for this one because I’m a vegan and I don’t want to play a game where things are killed, even if it’s only a pinata.)

In this game, you also collect “golden capelins”, which are used as money to buy stuff for your burrow once you get a mate. I got a mate, and the only interaction with him is to open up the menu to buy stuff. I bought four things and the capelins were deducted from my account, but never showed up in my burrow. One of the things I bought was a nest, but didn’t get it, so I guess my puffin isn’t going to be laying any eggs any time soon.
