NYKO TECHNOLOGIES 80650 Airflow Ex Pc Game Controller

I’ve had this control for quite a while now and have had no problems with it, and it has been dropped once or twice too. The fan works as advertised and keeps your hands cool, though the only difference between low and high speed fan is that the high speed is just a little louder, with no noticeable air flow difference. The low speed is really all you need anyway.
All the buttons respond nicely. The Dpad probably isn’t as precise as the dpads on many controllers for console systems though(the super nintendo controller probably had one of the best Dpads ever). The analog sticks are very good as well (though once again probably not quite as good as some console system’s controllers).
The controller is laid out in a similar fasion to the PS2 controller, so users of it should feel right at home with this. Those with smaller hands might find this controller a bit big, but for the large handed individual like me, it’s great!
Really good controllers for computers seem to be hard to find. This one is definitely one of the better ones. I play psyconauts with it along with many older emulated games on the computer. It works very well for pretty much anything (first person shooter games are of course best controlled with keyboard and mouse).
In conclusion, if you are looking for a controller for your PC, this is probably a good one to go with (there are certainly far worse ones). The price is nice too.

When I bought this remote I was looking for a remote that was easy to use and fun to play with. As soon as I tried the Nyko Airflo remote whith my new game Lego Star Wars I saw an immediate change in the way I played. I was better, faster and able to complete levels faster and this was much easier than before with just my old keybord. The next game I tried was Battlefront and that was even better, it was like I had my own PS2. The controller is a “need to have” for any computer player. It has great grip and a fan that shoots into your palms. The fan is nice because it has high, medium, low, or off settings. All in all the remote is great and it lived up to my expectations.

I cannot believe NYKO stopped making these, get them while you can- you won’t regret it. I started on a GravisPad back in 1990 (the one with the stick that screwed into the d-pad) that plugged into the MIDI port on my sound card. I have used every gamepad between the gravis pad all the way up to a Xbox360 gamepad for PC gaming, and I still think the NYKO Airflo is the best for three reasons:
1- Quality of build
The Airflow just feels tough when you hold it. When you’re gripping it to make that hard-to-hit trick in Tony Hawk, it doesn’t creak, and it doesn’t flex, despite being mostly open inside (for the air to flow). I used mine for about 600 hours across 2 years and the ONLY reason I stopped using it is because I stepped on it (I’m 6’5″ and weight about 260 lbs) and broke one of the thumb-sticks (it still worked, just erratic). Up until that point it worked PERFECTLY, even after being dropped, stepped on multiple times, getting spilled on and crushed while moving.
2- Great design
I’m a big guy, and I have hands the size of a bunch of bananas, and yet I could comfortably hold this controller for hours while I played Xmen: Children of the Atom or Psychonauts and not get a cramp. The buttons are placed right where your finger naturally go when you want to press them, and they are snappy and don’t wiggle in their holes or hesitate when you are jamming the fire button down over and over. The thumb-sticks are tight and accurate, and once you get the feel for them, you’ll have a hard time going back to even a PS3 controller.
3- Great concept
I’ve used gamepads before that had a gimmick. I had a SNES pad that used a flat touch-sensitive d-pad. It was crap. I’ve had PC gamepads that boast motion control for flight sims. They were all crap. Even other pads that offer vented hand-holds either didn’t have enough air movement, or felt like they were as flimsy as a plastic Easter-egg in my hands. But the Nyko Airflow can’t be beaten. It’s side grips are more like a cage, so there’s no way you can plug up all of the air vents (I’ve tried), and the vents are made of a more rigid plastic than the rest of the pad, so they maintain their strength despite all of the openings for air to flow through. As an added bonus, the vents have a sort of weave pattern to them that gives you phenomenal grip above and beyond having dry hands.
I cannot recommend this gamepad highly enough. If you have an Xbox360 use that gamepad on your PC, but for anyone else, this is a no-brainer. Order it now!

got two on July 1, 2009 and so far they are great!!!!. i had one before and still have it, its about 4 years old. The only reason i got two more is because my brother & sister & me now play multi-player games & online games on different computers!. They are great, work perfect, not to heavy and are protected by a plastic like shell. if anything goes wrong with these i will update this review!

The Nyko Airflow Ex is an excellent controller. After having mine for about a month, I bought one for my wife. The fans aren’t too loud unless on high and are a good thing to have. It has a comfortable grip and nice feel and balance to it.
I’ve now had it for about nine months and it has taken much abuse (constant falls) and it still works well. Except for the left stick, which is causing movement without input from me. Other than that, I recommend this as a good gaming controller. Though I am buying a new one now, my old one could still be used for games that sticks are not needed.
