We’ve been a non-gaming family all these years, no X-Box, Playstation or the like. I saw my friends’ children getting spaced out with their video games and felt strongly that I didn’t want that for my kids. Lately you just can’t have your kids anywhere without them playing a Wii – at their friends’ houses, at the Y, etc. Kids came over to our house & were bored because there was “nothing to do”, even though we have a pool! Anyway we finally caved and bought the Wii for the kids’ first summer home – no childcare. They are getting older now and it’s a whole new world to keep older kids busy during the day. They really enjoy the games, they are active, they are working together, communicating, and best of all no one is vegging out watching TV or playing on the computer all day. At least with the Wii, I know what they’re doing all day! It’s fun for the grownups too. All in all, very glad we finally entered the gaming world. I just wish games & accessories were a little more affordable.

We bought the Wii so that we wouldn’t be just sitting at night. My active 84 year old aunt played the sports games and had a lot of fun. I didn’t realize the batteries that come with the Wii remotes are not rechargeable. We bought the accessory recharger with rechargeable batteries. We also purchased Wii Play and an extra nunchuck so that 2 people can play.

I purchased this for my son for Christmas. He has other game systems (Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PSP, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 64, Gamecube), but is loving this one a great deal as it has provides a whole new way of gaming. We had many laughs the other night while my husband bowled, boxed and played baseball with my son. Any parent has to love a video game that gets their child up and moving around rather than sitting and pushing buttons. The games and system add-ons are much more reasonable than with other game systems. I went a little crazy and purchased a few games, extra controllers, driving wheels, the WII Fit plus, sports attachments (bat, racket)the charge station, etc., but so far is money well spent. This is a great system for young and old.

A great addition to my home – though the little plump female that jogs towards me on the screen on start-up causes me to think – will the image get smaller as I lose weight? The stair-stepper exercise gets the blood pumping, and I am learning many things about my aging body. So much fun – the aerobic exercises – the balance exercises, etc. Refreshing as the snowballs smash into you, bringing back memories of being soaked in snowball fights. As a penguin on the ice-berg I still haven’t caught the main prize, but will continue to try. Very creative thought went into the design of the Play Fit Plus and the wii will be fun for all the family for many years to come.
